WARNING on T UP-Cycle Projects

WARNING

Many of the T- Up-cycle ideas need a sewer’s touch.  Having now spent quite a few days playing with ideas I have found online for up-cycling T’s, I have come to the conclusion that while many ideas are accomplished by just cutting, slashing, slitting and weaving, that most of these would only ‘wear’ for a couple of ‘wearings and launderings’, as there are NO finished edges, NO stabilization, NO structure.  Why?  because, though creative, these ‘inventors’ have no (or very very little) sewing skills.

Here’s a very cool idea that I tested…see the ‘runs’ developing’ just during the creation, let alone any ‘wearing and laundering’??

However, I definitely STILL am in awe of what they come up with!  Enter us seasoned ‘Sewists’ (seamstresses, sewers, whatever name you want to give us), and we can take this creativity and come up with TRULY amazing fashion up-cycles!  An example would be in my T-Shirt to a Cascade Vest in this Blog Post of 5-19.   I found that it is the STRESS on the ‘left over’ fabric hinges that will soon yield and break.  Also – this was a CottonT – and I think it might drape, stretch better out of a poly.  Just sayin…

Some others – that offer some challenging ‘edges’ that really must be ‘addressed’ or consider them a ‘few times to wear’ projects.

Here are some other e ideas from my Pinterest Board.  Great ideas – but BEWARE! My time is too precious to invest for just a couple wearings.  How about yours?

Some T UP-Cycle ideas will work just GREAT!

Here’s one that I’m itching to do – and I think this scarf from a T will work just fine!!!
